INT is Minimalen’s International Competition for shorts from all over the world (i.e.
the world outside the Nordic countries; the Nordic and Norwegian films compete
in the NOR section). 38 of the best new shorts of the World have been selected and
are to be presented in six programmes. The directors are presented right after their
film is screened, and the audience get the opportunity to ask questions. The Award
Ceremony is due Sunday.
All the directors are cordially invited with full accreditation and three complementary hotel nights (i.e. one room per film).
AWARDS
• Best International Film One film is awarded by the INT Award Jury and presented with The Minimalen
Trophy and EUR 1 000 given by Minimalen.
• Audience Award The audience vote for their favourite INT film, and the winner is awarded EUR 500 given by Minimalen.
• The Raskin Spirit Festival Award The trophy is awarded to a compact, poetic short film that makes use of its visual
and auditory possibilities in an imaginative way, and has its own optimal form.

THE JURY FOR THE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION:
MARTIN P. ROSSOUW
(b. 1981, ZAF). Senior Lecturer and Head of
Dept. Art History and Image Studies, University of the Free State in South
Africa, where he teaches in the Programme in Film and Visual Media.
PhD graduate cum laude at the University of Groningen (NED). Recently
published in Short Film Studies, Akademisk Kvarter, Image & Text, and
New Review of Film and Television Studies. Convener and coordinator of
the Vlieks short film programme at the Free State Arts Festival in South
Africa. Work as screenwriter includes the short film Die Beleefnis (2013).
INGER LISE HANSEN
(b. 1963, NOR) is a visual artist with background
from experimental film and animation. Studied at University of East
London and Central-St. Martin’s College of Art and Design, and received
MFA in Filmmaking from San Francisco Art Institute (1996). From the
1990s her films have been shown internationally at Tate Modern, Tokyo
Photographic Art Museum, Malmö Kunsthall, a.o. Awards from Vienna
Independent Shorts and Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, etc. Her latest film,
Tåke (2018), was screened at Rotterdam Film Festival and in Experimenta,
London Film Festival, and was part of Rencontres Internationales at
Louvre in Paris and received Jury Prize at Ann Arbor Film Festival (USA).
MARTIN STRANGE-HANSEN
(b 1971, DNK) is a Film Director and
Scriptwriter with an Oscar for best live action short film (This Charming
Man, 2003). A great deal of his career have circulated around the short
format and the support of new talent: Head of programme at Odense
International Filmfestival (2012) and member of their film selection committee.
Film Commissioner at the Filmworkshop in Copenhagen, Odense
and Århus. Teacher/mentor at Den Danske Filmskole, Station Next and
the European Film College. President and Vice President of the Danish
Filmdirectors association (2009-2016). Recurring editor of the Danish
Filmdirectors magazine Take.

What cures women of sexual promiscuity? Eating lettuce, of course. Fragments of Forough Farokhzad’s poem, Sin, are read out against Islamic clergies advising women on how to control their lust.
I elvemunningen i Tejo livnærer en kinesisk jente og moren hennes seg ved å fange muslinger, en aktivitet som er ulovlig i området. Deres liv i Portugal er ikke noe i nærheten av The American Dream.
