Opening Screening & Reception

Midtnorsk filmsenter (The Regional Film Centre) and Minimalen invites you to a festive screening in the Liv Ullmann theatre (Nova 1).

In the first half, the film center will present two smoking hot films and share a thrilling work in progress. Behind all three projects are solid and innovative directors, supported by some of the region's most exciting production companies in the field of fiction.

In the second half, The 30th Anniversary Edition of Minimalen will let you have tastes of the rich festival programme awaiting during the week. We get to hear the curators talk of some of the special programs, and welcome a couple of the profiles and jury members that have arrived at this point.

The film screening starts out in Nova 1, and will slide over to the opening reception at Bror (address Olav Tryggvasons gate 29, first floor, contact info and map: brorbar.no ).

WANDA LØPER

Når vanskelighetene tårner seg opp, løper bare Wanda fra problemene. Heldigvis slipper hun å løpe alene!

Denise Hauser er en sveitsisk regissør med en MA i animasjon fra Royal College of Art i London. Hennes film Return to Sender (2012) er blitt vist på flere nasjonale og internasjonale festivaler.

When difficulties arise, Wanda simply runs from the problems. Fortunately, she does not have to run alone!

Denise Hauser is a Swiss director who graduated with an MA in Animation from the Royal College of Art in London. Her film Return to Sender (2012) has been featured at several national and international festivals.

FOTOSHOOT (PHOTOSHOOT)

En fotografering begynner som et profesjonelt møte mellom to moderne og vellykkede kvinner, men utvikler seg gradvis til en maktkamp med røtter i fortiden.

Maida Hals har laget en rekke prisvinnende musikkvideoer. Kortdokumentaren Nasjonaldagen (2014) ble blant annet vist på Chicago International Children's Film Festival, mens Kisses in Zocolo (2013) vant jurypris under DocsDF i Mexico City. Med Fotoshoot har hun deltatt i filmverkstedet North Fiksjon, som utforsker filmskaperens særegne, kunstneriske uttrykksmåte, og er et samarbeid mellom Midtnorsk Filmsenter, Nordnorsk Filmsenter og Verdalslab (Nord universitet).

A photoshoot begins as a professional meeting between two modern and successful women, but gradually develops into a power struggle with roots in their past.

Maida Hals has made a number of award-winning music videos. The short doc Nasjonaldagen (2014) was featured at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival, while Kisses in Zocolo (2013) won a prize under DocsDF in Mexico City. With Photoshoot, she has participated in the North Fiction workshop, which explores the filmmaker's distinct artistic expression, and is a collaboration between Midtnorsk Filmsenter, Nordnorsk Filmsenter and Verdalslab (Nord University).

TÅKELAND - WORK IN PROGRESS

Ni år gamle Elma er på vandring i vakre men mørke Tåkeland.

Line Klungseth Johansen er en av regionens mest spennende filmregissører med en tydelig stemme og et særegent estetisk uttrykk. I filmen Tåkeland er regiansvaret delt med Helmet-kollegaene Øystein Moe og Alexander Somma. Miljøet rundt filmselskapet Helmet kan betegnes som et visuelt tyngdepunkt i trøndersk filmbransje. Filmen er ikke ferdig, vi får her se en work in progress.

Nine year old Elma is exploring the beautiful but dark Land of fog.

Line Klungseth Johansen is one of the most exciting film directors of the region, with a clear voice and a distinctive aesthetic expression. In the film Tåkeland, she shares the director's responsibilities with Helmet colleagues Øystein Moe and Alexander Somma. Helmet and the people surrounding the company can be described as a visual focal point within the regional film industry. The film is not completed, we get to see a work in progress.
