Nick Jordan (b. 1967, GBR England) makes use of documentary film as a framework to create art that explores the relationship between human and nature, culture and social systems. Visually, the films are often linked to specific locations, combining original footage with archive material. The soundtrack might combine archival voice-overs, an original musical score and ambient sound recordings. Nick Jordan does not shy away from showing social involvement or a political standpoint, although these aspects are left to be uncovered by the spectator and never become intrusive.
This programme includes the trilogy Thought Broadcasting, The Atom Station (screened at Minimalen 2017) and The Rising, each featuring a soundtrack score by musician Lord Mongo. He recently, in collaboration with Clara Casian, completed the mid-length feature documentary Intentional Community, from which we get to see an excerpt.

THE RISING
Vi følger den svartelistede arten kjempebjørnekjeks gjennom sin årlige vekstsyklus, til et atmosfærisk lydspor fra Lord Mongo. Den uvelkomne fremmede framstår både som en farlig, giftig trussel og et imponerende, naturens underverk.
An invasive alien species, Giant Hogweed is filmed throughout its annual growth cycle, to an atmospheric soundtrack score by Lord Mongo. The alien interloper is presented as both a dangerous, toxic menace and an impressive, natural wonder.

THE ATOM STATION
Med blikket festet på Islands naturlige og industrielle landskap, smeltes de formende kulturelle, politiske og økologiske kreftene sammen. De pålagte stemmene er poeten W.H. Auden som leser "Journey to Iceland" (1937), og miljøaktivist Ómar Ragnarsson.

About psychosis and surveillance. A composite of fact and fiction, the film draws upon real-life accounts of a schizophrenic disorder: the belief that one's thoughts are being transmitted and heard by others.

Om utbredelsen av fuglehus, reist for å tiltrekke purpursvale – Amerikas mest etterlyste fugl. Filmen ble skutt i en liten by som skryter av å ha det høyeste antallet husly for purpursvaler, og som er hjemstedet for fuglehusprodusenten Nature House Inc.
The proliferation of bird houses, erected to attract the Purple Martin - 'America's Most Wanted Bird'. The film was shot in a small town boasting the highest number of dwellings for Purple Martins, and is the founding location of the bird house manufacturer Nature House Inc.

En norsk folkedanser utfører Hallingdans, som tradisjonelt demonstrerer styrke og virilitet. Filmen kobler sammen tilsynelatende ikke-relaterte elementer - dansen er filmet på landsbygda i Norge, og musikksporet er Cornershops Punjabi-cover av Beatles-klassikeren.
A Norwegian folk dancer performs the 'halling' dance, which traditionally demonstrates strength and virility. Filmed in a woodland settlement in Norway and set to Cornershop's Punjabi cover of this Beatles classic, the film makes connections between seemingly unrelated elements.
